Brief Report of the Major Activities

 

1. Professionalism and Ethics in IT Sector:

Society organized a Seminar on “Professionalism and Ethics in IT Sector” in association with IET Delhi Local Network, ISTE Delhi Section and CSI Region – I at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi. The seminar was organized in the backdrop of the industrial report about increasing problem of Professionalism and Ethics in IT Sector. It was realized that because of the ever increasing size of the IT Sector across the world, need of having a uniform Professional Code of Conduct is the need of the hour.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. V. K. Gupta, Hony. Secretary, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, Delhi Local Network, discussed the fact that the way IT sector is rapidly expanding, like other sectors, having a uniform professional code of conduct based on the professional values is very much required. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Secretary, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and Director, BVICAM, New Delhi, discussed the related problems being faced by the industry. During the Focus Group Discussions, held in between the seminar, related issues were taken up. Finally, a set of recommendations were submitted to IET for taking it up together along with the suggestions received from other cities like Pune, Bangalore and Chennai.
The seminar was well received by the working professionals from IT sector along with students of B. Tech. and MCA programmes.
 

2. Total Quality Professionalism – Industry Expectations:

Society organized a Seminar for the MCA students of the Department of Computer Science, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh (UP), on 21st September, 2011, on the theme “Total Quality Professionalism – Industry Expectations”. The seminar was organized in the backdrop of the survey released by National Association for Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) in which it was claimed that only 25% of the young graduates coming out of Technical Institutions are employable.
The purpose of the seminar was to sensitize young students about the changing expectations of the industry from a professional. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohammad Ubaidullah Bokhari, Chairman of the Department discussed that the young graduates have to be more responsive and practical oriented to meet the changing requirement of the industry. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Secretary, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and Director, BVICAM, New Delhi, presented that because of the changing expectations of the customers, industry is facing the productivity challenge and subsequent upon this, it expects that the young professionals should be productive from day one. He also discussed the mechanism; how to meet this changing requirement of the industry. The seminar was well received by the students of MCA – I, III and V semesters.
 

3. Report of the Free Medical Camp organized by Safa Pharma:

Safa Pharma, being run under the aegis of the Safa Society, organized a Free Medical Camp at Neoraganj, Patna, Bihar. Over 200 patients from the surrounding villages took advantage of this opportunity. Free Check-up, Consultation, Basic Medicines, etc. were given to the patients. Residents of the Villages appreciated the efforts and requested to organize such camps, more often. Mr. Monawwer Zeya Rizvi, Treasurer of the Society, coordinated the camp and assured to the residents that the society has the plans to organize the on regular intervals.
